What's in for late summer foraging

Heading off on a trip through the Lake District next week and hoping to fit in a bit of foraging along the way, we're loosely planning to start around Ullswater and work our way west, with plenty of stops to wander and explore. I've done bits of foraging before, mainly coastal stuff and hedgerow staples but my wife and I are both not too familiar with what mid to late August brings in this region,

Mid to late August in the Lakes is great for hedgerow berries like hawthorn and early rosehips, plus wild sorrel and mallow in open areas. If you're near water, keep an eye out for sea spinach and sea kale too. When we were there, there were also guided foraging walks around Windermere and Keswick if you want to learn more hands-on

@4rayjah Late August is perfect for hedgerow berries and early rosehips in the Lakes. If you're near streams or the coast, watch for wild sorrel and sea kale, and guided walks around Windermere can be really handy.

If you have Landscaping trees around you, Kousa Dogwood (Cornus kousa) Fruits ripen in Late August. They are commonly planted where I live in the Eastern United States & Taste Delicious!
