Has anyone discovered their first favorite mushrooms this year? I'd love to hear what you're finding out there, any tips or good spots you want to share? Let's kick off the season
I'm happy to say that I've finally found morels in a burned area. If you can find dying elm trees or an area that's burned, you can try to find them there. Also, I've been seeing lately people pulling chanterelles, i'm into those right now. Good luck
I found my first chanterelles this year, it felt like striking gold in the woods! I literally did a happy dance that scared a nearby squirrel. Tip: check mossy slopes after rain, they love it damp and shady
I found my first batch of chanterelles last week, I am absolutely hooked now! I looked around mossy hardwoods after a good rain, I am not giving up my best spots yet though, haha! Happy hunting
I discovered some lovely oyster mushrooms on some dead hardwood last week. If you want the best luck, take a look at fallen logs, especially after it rains. And remember, it's always smart to confirm their identity using several sources before you start harvesting.
