Anyone know any good laver recipes that don't involve boiling it for days? Also, does anyone here regularly collect it? This year the beach is covered in it, way more than ive seen in the past few years, curious if it naturally has good and bad seasons.

Yeah, laver has seasonal spikes usually after storms or rough surf, you can try pan-toasting it with sesame oil and a pinch of salt, it tastes great and way quicker than long boiling

I wonder why there's so much laver this year, could it be tied to water temperature changes or some shift in the local ecosystem?

I guess its seasonal, not totally sure tho
Yeah, laver definitely has its own cycle, some years the beaches are loaded, others barely a sheet of it, it's usually tied to water temps, storms, and how rough the sea has been
for recipes, no need to boil it forever, quick rinse, maybe a short steam to soften if needed, then sauté it with sesame oil, garlic, and a splash of soy works great
